August Plans
Grade School Event: 2nd week in August: We will plan an event just for upcoming 3rd-5th graders. Ideas include: mini golf, fishing at the Dent’s pond, bowling, games at the church, roller skating.
Ryan and Elizabeth on Vacation: August 20-25: camping on the Oregon Coast.
Family Event: Sometime in August: either a campfire/barn party at the Dents complete with Dutch oven cooking, or a movie under the stars at the Engelhardt house. We also noted that the fellowship committee plans to host ice cream socials, BBQ’s and other events during the summer.
Revisit Previous Ideas
Home Visitation: Ryan and Elizabeth have created a sign-up list for home visitations and it is out and ready to go. We will announce it during worship services on Sunday.
Fall Plans
We began talking about fall plans and have lots of ideas:
Bike Trip: The Kings have information on this bike trip in northern Idaho. This would be a family event in September or October. We’d load up the busses with kids and families for this day long trip.
Harvest Barn Party: This event may replace the August barn party at the Dents – possibly the end of September.
Tanzania Fundraiser?: Possible fundraiser for the kids – to raise money for the Tanzania school.
Back to School Bash:
Young Adult Gathering? (those in their 20’s and 30’s)
Fall Sunday School Event – Carnival or something tied into the “Round Up”.
Shoshone HS Retreat: Oct. 5-7
We talked about the three events happening the same weekend in November and decided we need some more information and to think about it a little longer. Ryan will call his friend Jeromy, who works for Youth Encounter, to see what’s happening with the November events.
Youth Quake: Nov. 9-11
Youth Zone: Nov. 9-11
HS Synod Youth Gathering: Nov. 9-11
Winter Plans
Winter Retreat : We talked about places we could have a Winter Retreat. Some ideas were mentioned, but those places don’t have running water or electricity in the winter, so we’ll explore other ideas. We will ask the congregation if they have any ideas for a winter retreat place.
Youth Encounter Team: We may invite a youth encounter team to come for a Family Event Night – they put on a program with music, message, and a puppet show. We could have a potluck dinner beforehand and the program at 7pm.
Confirmation Retreat: The cluster pastors are thinking of joining together for a Lutherhaven Confirmation retreat in January.
Ski/Snowboard Trip: We could take the bus to Mission Ridge for a day of skiing and snowboarding. Kids who are new to the sport could take lessons. The Dents would come as adult leaders.

Camp Lutherhaven
Check this out.
YELS (Youth Empowered Leadership and Service)
Derek McMains, Samantha Byam, Katie Nickell, and Alexis Lord, along with Elizabeth Luiten, will be traveling to Shoshone Base Camp (Lutherhaven’s sister camp) for four intense days of leadership and service training. The event is planned and led by our synod’s Lutheran Youth Organization board and is a great tool for empowering youth to take their newfound leadership skills home. The four youth who participate in this trip will be encouraged to form a youth leadership team here at Immanuel to start planning a mission trip for the summer of 2008. We will send and bless this group during worship on July 8th right before they leave. Please keep them in your prayers as they embark on this adventure.
Creation Fest
All high school youth are invited to attend the Creation Festival at the Gorge. All the new freshmen who just graduated 8th grade are invited as well. This is an amazing 4-day Christian concert with dozens of bands, speakers and worship opportunities. We will be camping the whole week, and will make trips to the Columbia River to cool off. Check out the website at www.creationfest.com for more info. The total cost for the entire event is $125, plus extra money for t-shirts, CD’s, souvenirs or food from the food booths you may want. Immanuel Lutheran will provide transportation and food for all meals. You must sign up and pay by Wednesday July 18th. We will need several adults to go with us, so parents sign up too!
Your cost will be paid!
